Salone del Mobile and concept of originality

Stacked Light from Sander Wassink and Na'yan Pesach This week I went to Salone del Mobile in Milan. I had a lot of fun and had some time for myself (and I really needed it) but I find these events less enlightening than a few years ago. The Internet has somehow shortened the life cycle of originality. The first few times I went to London or Paris at the end of high school or at the beginning of college, things were different and fashion did not spread very quickly. We came home with ideas, people dressed differently in other cities, clubs and bars in other countries looked different. And not to mention centuries ago. Now you see the same windows in the center of Madrid, Rome, London or Moscow, people wear the same clothes and the same fashions, the seats look the same, with vintage belle epoque furniture and white tiles. Even fairs now show not only the showcase of what is new, but a series of new objects that we will see on the Internet in a few seconds under the same roof. What is really original now, and how can you be truly unique? Maybe the concept itself is outdated, globalization has overcome many obstacles, but it has also made us all a little more similar. What do you think you found the original?
